Could Angel-A work with an American cast?

Love the premise, don't know how it will end. A short man, ordinary man, in an attempt to escape a life of crime decides to jump off a bridge and commit suicide. He is interrupted by a long legged beauty who has the same idea in mind, and she jumps over the ledge. The man has to put his plans aside to save her. She is much larger than he is and he struggles to pull her over to the edge of the river. When she comes to, she shows little modesty, which suggests she's a pro. She even sits with her legs open, showing she has no modesty, and nothing to hide.

When he asks her why someone so beautiful would attempt suicide she says she's ugly inside. But she is convinced that he's beautiful inside and she pledges to help him.

The camera imagery is incredible. It's shot in black and white and they even have shots of her standing by a headless statue which has wings. When she steps up, in profile, she looks like she's an angel.

Is this a twist on Clancy from "It's a wonderful life?"
