(8,636 posts)'Devo' is actually short for devolution. The name was chosen by band members Gerald Casale and Bob Lewis, both Kent State students - remember Kent State? Remember what happened in 1970?
I'm not certain whether this was meant as a satire on '60s optimism, or if maybe, there was a brief period when Devo was really feeling hopeful about the future!
