Ten years earlier, they showed it at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood for the 40th--followed by a discussion with the cast, production team, etc. I think that was the first time they re-mastered the film.

(4,056 posts)Even with the miscasting of Natalie Wood, a pale White Russian, to play a Puerto Rican girl. And I think Maria's first boyfriend Chino is played by a Filipino. Guess any brown skinned actor in a storm, eh?
But with all the political incorrectness, I still love it. With Bernstein, Sondheim and Robbins in charge, how can you go wrong?
