During the years I knew him, I don't think I ever saw him sober except for about ten minutes each morning, before he started in on the Canadian Lord Calvert.
When we separated, someone tried fixing him up with a woman who shared his passion for drinking.
It didn't work out, though, as he complained to me (yes, we were still friends) that she drank even more than he did.
It's good to know that even drunks have standards.
