I was just hit by a car.

In the ER with my iPhone. Possible broken hip/finger. Unknown if internal bleeding.

I'm still in shock and shaking. Person that hit me was crying her eyes out, and she had a 9 year old in the back seat. I just want to go home now.

I'm glad I still know my name. I'm in really bad pain.

Mar 2013

Finger only bruised, hip doesn't show fractures on the X-rays, but it could be a hairline and I'm going through a CT scan soon. Still waiting for pain meds.... Pain is at a 9, still waiting for pain killers. I cannot dangle my leg without screaming, so I cannot walk. Used a bed pan for the first time... Semi-out of shock, still prone to crying randomly.

Roller-coaster!

i find that pinning people down about what they are going to do and when they are going to do it tends to make things happen. ask what you are getting, when you are getting it, is there any reason they are waiting for it, and about that point it should become easier to treat you pain than answer your questions.

I'm glad your hubby is there with you.when you're in so much pain, it's good to have someone there who can be your advocate. Remember to take the pain meds as directed to keep ahead of the pain. So many people don't like to do that, but my friend is an ER nurse. She told me its important for healing, and in the long run, you end up using less meds that way.

Hope you finally get some relief and rest.

Tomorrow start making notes on a calendar or in a journal. Do this daily. Note pain level, disruption of routines- missed worked, medical appts., cancelled plans etc. Keep track of the take out meals you need to buy for your family, identify the extra duties that other family members do. List anything out of the ordinary that you are feeling or doing- even jot down when you get the blues. It will help you self-monitor your progress and provide information when you seek compensation. Take care of yourself- best wishes.

Good news. (I'll take it where I can get it.) The bones that are fractured are hairline fractures and that's why they didn't show on the X-rays. They're likely to heal I don't think I'll have any permanent chronic problems or pain. It's the Sacrum and Acetabular (dunno if it's margin, fossa or notch.)

I'm not having surgery! I'm still waiting for the specialist... The nurse warned me that they may make me walk and I told her that they'd have to put a piece if wood between my teeth. I'm not really joking on that part either.

So far it sounds like if you're going to be hit by a car, my route isn't horrible. No spinal cord or head injury and I wasn't run over by the tires. I can wiggle everything and push down and up with my feet. There was no blood on the outside of my body and no internal bleeding. I also have all my teeth and my eyeglasses and iPhone didn't break.

But I shouldn't have been hit by a car in the first place.

Congratulations on the good(?) news. I'm so happy it's the best you could expect after being hit by a CAR. I also feel sorry for the driver that hit you. She must be so sorry and frightened. Chin up! Things will get better! Bless you!

I hope you get the pain meds you need. Women often don't, due to misogyny in medicine.

Been there, done that. Be patient with your body - it needs time to heal. Expect to be sore for a while....

Kids in the car are a major cause of distraction....

I am concerned and not good at prayers and sympathies that I feel would sound corny but I am so glad you are not trashed .We were worried --you have many friends here because you are you .

I have a friend who had some serious kidney stone problem and was put on Vicodin. She later confessed they made her feel really good and she had a very hard time giving them up. You sound like your problem is going to last a long time...so be careful.
Hope you have as speedy recovery as possible.

That my fractures haven't shifted, which would push me back into surgery.

I've had some hip operations that left me immobilized. The slightest move brought excruciating pain. When I could, I forced myself to get up and walk--and that did me a world of good. I always recovered in half the time the docs projected. It wasn't easy, but it helped my recovery immensely.

My advice, for what it's worth: When your docs say it's okay, get up and move as much as you can. Until then, stay put and heal. It will get better.

I had an incident where I couldn't move, we thought it was a broken hip, but x-rays were negative. I couldn't get out of bed on my own either. I hope you are not incapacitated for too long.

I hope you recover quickly.

You could probably use a walker for getting around the house.

It's almost as good as having another person.

Take care!
