Yes, we did enjoy the movie. Then I spent some time doing some research...hence the idea for this poll.

(66,294 posts)I still appreciated 'Argo' even after I learned of the inaccuracies. But a movie like 'Braveheart' did not survive similar scrutiny. After I read the history of William Wallace, Mel Gibson's historical farce became virtually unwatchable.

(17,742 posts)Life is dramatic enough.
Same with formulaic bullshit. Just tell the story fercrissakes.
I guess that's why my favorite film type is documentary.

(8,217 posts)Where what people mention as the inaccuracy is at the end, where it went without a hitch, but they made it dramatic.
I don't really mind that. Much of it was worked out well.
I admit, that they could have placed more emphasis on the Canadian involvement, but it is an American movie about the Americans, so I can't really blame them that much for that.
I haven't read much about William Wallace. I did read the Braveheart book though, the author explained that his account is a re-imagining, so, I am pretty sure it was inaccurate.

(118,503 posts)reality when I saw it so that was okay. I once started a book, read that it was historically based fiction, and promptly put it down. I like history and don't want it messed with.
