I see a lot of snapping & box turtles crossing the roads from the swamps out back. I find myself stopping to help some of the box turtles across. We live in a pretty rural area so cars are not zooming by every second. But they do still manage to run over them from time to time.

You should see the size of some of these snapping turtles. I generally don't mess with them. Except one time, I caught one eating from our strawberry patch. Lol he started crawling off towards to road. A bit later I heard a car slow down. I went out front and that dude was in the middle of the road. I grabbed my winter shovel from the shed and the driver and I managed to pick him up and move him. Vicious lil bugger.

to miss a turtle coming across the road. Looking in my rear view mirror, the vehicles following me looked like the cars on a roller coaster, each doing the same thing, at a slightly different time.

He named it Yertle.
