The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI gave away about $40 worth of beer last night.
I had a couple of 30 packs here that I had actually gotten for free. A relative works at a brewery and gets four of those free every month. She had given me a couple.
A neighbor was throwing a party, and I really need to chill out on the alcohol consumption with school getting back into high gear, so I gave the beer to the neighbor. It was very much appreciated.
In other news, finance is hard- about as hard as accounting. The two are closely related. They make special calculators just for financial calculations. I bought one for my class. It's called a Texas Instruments BA II Plus Professional Advanced Financial Calculator. That should make the class easier, but not easy by any means, and I might have to take a class just to learn how to run the calculator. My other classes are Operations Management and Human Resources Management. The HRM class is more interesting than I thought it was going to be. There is a great deal of discussion about diversity, inclusion, and complying with Equal Employment Opportunity Commission regulations.
I almost dropped my classes this summer. I've been working over 50-60 hours a week and taking three classes a semester since May of 2012. It's been getting to me. But at 41, I'm not getting any younger, so full steam ahead. If I can hang in there I'll finish up with an accounting degree in the summer of 2015. I'll take a break then.

You know your growing up when you give away beer.

(10,418 posts)It hurts to part ways with the brewskies, especially 60 free brewskies, but I think you are right. In my middle age, I'm finally growing up. Maybe it was the appearance of those gray hairs becoming prominent.

(16,334 posts)We didn't get to do a wedding shower, but I have some fun plans for a virtual graduation party for you AND Jen. We know the long road you've been on, but it will be worth it.
