Edge of Tomorrow looks to be a good movie (according to critics).

BUT - I have this huge problem....I am repulsed by Tom Cruise.

It's the same kind of disappointment I felt when he was cast in Interview with the Vampire, a book I dearly loved at the time. The movie was "eh", and a disappointment compared to the book. And there are so many other movies I haven't seen because he's in them.

Now here's a promising sci fi movie with a cool plot and who's the lead? Ugh. I don't know what to do. I just don't think I can see it.

Can you convince me otherwise?

1. I went and read the ending to Oblivion just to remove all temptation to see it.

Just let it pass. The chances that it is actually a good SF film are about 1 in 1,000.

I just went and read how this one goes too. Blehh

And the ending is nothing special....I'll stick with the book instead.

3. I want to see it. However, I have read the manga and light novel that it is based on.

It is based on a Light Novel called "All You Need is Kill", which to me was well made.
From the trailers themselves, there are a lot of changes already.

1 - The original protagonist is YOUNG, a young fresh recruit in the military.
2 - In the novels, they were using an Axe rather than a sword.

I can't convince you to see it, however it is a pretty interesting story and I am curious how they will change it.

I am going in there with eyes open, to see if I want to see it or not.

If you haven't, try reading the novel or manga. It is easily read online.

I am not a fan of Emily Blunt either, but I enjoy the story, so I will watch it.

--Edit-- Oh carp, I read the wiki.
F-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-... I have less reason to watch it now.
Meh, what else am I going to do on a Friday?
I'm still going.

4. Cruise's days as a leading man are over.

He screwed up his career by always being the hero, always saving the day, blah, blah, blah. Matthew McConaughey is doing it right. Take roles that challenge you and change your path as an actor. Once you've made the big bucks, be patient and go for the good roles.

At this stage in his career, he shouldn't be playing the lead in a SciFi action movie unless it's something like Gravity.

Refuse to see ANYTHING starring that man. I turned off a talk show the other night when he was being interviewed.
