and an totally stuck on Labrador Retrievers for the last 30 years or so.

My brother went did heart surgery, and moved 1300 miles away to stick me with the cat from hell, just because in I do not like cats. (I think i got the cat to around 18 years old).

Someday when i get too old to move, it might be cat time or tiny cat like dog time, or an another dumb animal incapable of being useful

because it's too sad and scary for words.

If it is, you were damn lucky to get a chance to write it down.

The comic was drawn for the 20th anniversary of the fire. Inman has the newspaper article about it posted at the link.

It is sad, and it is scary, and his gift is finding words and images to express it.

Hope he's at the Green River Marathon tomorrow. I will be.

I believe I owned Domino's ancestor in the Seventies. We named him Dumbo, because of his ears and his mental acuity. The little goof lived to be twenty, despite his best efforts at self-destruction.

and our two kitties--Mouse and Simba--survived because every night we used to put them outside.

Simba would usually try to avoid getting grabbed to be put out by planting himself under the baby
grand piano. Someone would have to crawl under it to get him. We were all very glad hubby
did it that night.

And when we left the house--after calling the fire department--I deliberately left the front door open
to avoid a backdraft when the FD arrived. Sadly, even though they were there within 5 minutes of the call,
the house was already an inferno and they had to back out, go defensive, and work to keep the fire
from spreading. We had 59 firefighters there that morning at 4:30 am--from 3 counties--and they managed to keep
the house from burning to the ground. As a result? Several photo albums of our kids growing up survived.
Not much else. But we all got out: hubby, me, our youngest son still living at home, and our dog, Tanya.
The kitties showed up one and two days later. They'd been hiding out somewhere.
