(78,249 posts)All I ever heard it called was the graveyard shift. I did a LOT of graveyards on WYBC in New Haven back in the day.
You are correct about the music licensing issue. Les Nessman trying on the rug he bought from one of the station's sponsors just isn't the same without Foreigner's "Hot Blooded". Jennifer gently lifting it off his head, however, is still classic.
I worked midnight to 6am six days a week as a 16 year old. It kind of put a damper on my social life that summer.

When I was a young radio announcer at the same time as WKRP, most of the annoucers started calling our GM 'big guy'.
