Holling

Holling was an event held on the Eve of the Epiphany, in Brough, UK, where there is a procession of a lighted ash tree, lighted at the top with some combustible material, soaked in oil or fat, perhaps to commemorate the star that the wise men followed. The word came from "holly" because holly was originally used, but the plentiful availability of ash made it a natural choice for a substitute.
