There were times that I was able to pet the lion, and temporarily stop it from growling. But it inevitably became hostile again and started chasing me. I couldn't get away. It was going to kill me if it could.
What do you guys think my subconscious was trying to tell me? Anything? Nothing? Perhaps I have pissed off the Lannisters?

(10,624 posts)I'm not a super-confident guy right now, and I doubt my brain would go for a lion to symbolize me.

Besides, I don't think of myself as a lion. I think of myself as, well .... a dawg. Loyal, clever, and a little bit silly.

You don't currently think of your self as a lion,
but what about in the future after the better you is fully realized?

(19,288 posts)For dream analysis that you tell the story from the perspective of all the symbols in your dream.
You might say," I am the lion, strong and fierce, I'm hungry but this guy wants to pet me and while that feels good it is not feeding my need for food and dominance. I'm going to kill this dude for trying to pacify me with a pat on the head. Look he showed fear and that really sets me off. That's it. I'm turning on him. Grrrrr.
Something like that. 'The king of the beasts' lies with in you and is trying to give you a message.

They also reminded me of the astrological sign Leo. But I don't think in terms of astrology, so I don't think that has any bearing on it.

(10,624 posts)I think I just woke up before it caught me.
Also, it must have caught up with me at an earlier point in the dream, because I was only able to escape by petting it and pacifying it and then running the hell away from it as fast as I could.

(22,478 posts)Time I am writing this since the other went off into cyberspace. (that had nothing to do with your dream, just my own complaining)
If you look at everything in the dream and think about how you feel towards it in everyday life you can probably figure out the meaning.
Like how do you feel toward tigers? Beautiful? in danger of becoming extinct? or scary? or maybe all three? And/or something else I didn't mention?
How do you feel when a friend does this to you, like be nice to you and then turn on you? Or do you do this to yourself by sabotaging yourself? Or maybe something else that I didnt think of? Has anything like this happened in your real life lately?
How do you feel about dying or something that can kill you or losing permanently?
And then you should be able to figure out what your dream is saying to you. Everything in the dream is symbolic.

(10,558 posts)Assuming that dreams can have meanings, then it seems that the message should be decipherable.... well doesn't it?
Try this, keep an empty notepad and a pen or pencil near your bed. Program yourself to use it to capture your dreams as the first thing you do before you exit your bed. (This is not so easy to do btw, for the first few mornings I ended up seeing that pad and pen well after I had gotten up which defeated the purpose but I recommend not giving up). Each night after placing the pad and pen near the bed, lay down normally, close your eyes and think to yourself that when you wake you want to recall and record your last dream. For me it didn't take but a week before I could routinely record that last dream I had before waking. Once the routine is set up you can have some fun with this. Write a specific question on your pad of paper shortly before you go to sleep. Let the question asked be repeated and rephrased in your mind as you relax prior to drifting off. The dreams that you write down the next morning may prove quite interesting. If the dream 'answer' is undecipherable ask again the next night but emphasize that you want it translated.
I am of the opinion that dreams can be a means of communication with our inner self. Exactly what that inner self is is up for debate imo, and I do not doubt that there are those who think it does not exist at all. I am further of the opinion that most communications one may have through dreams comes primarily in the form of metaphor but I say that based only on my own experiences. To me, your lion and it's actions has a meaning specific to you but if I were to have the same dream it's meaning for me could be entirely different.
FWIW this technique could lead to some very interesting, perhaps even psychic experiences.
I dunno, maybe its only just dreams and nothing more. It's all up to you (and anyone else who may read this post) if you should try my suggested technique and more importantly what gets asked on that pad of paper. I am only offering up a trick to try for a better interpretation of dreaming lions and the strange human that keep petting them before running away in fear.

(118,281 posts)or lose some money or perhaps be caught unexpectedly in the rain without your favorite umbrella. Once again, the planets are trying hard to tell you something, but unfortunately they've been drinking heavily and aren't making much sense, so you should wait patiently until they're sober, hoping constantly that it won't be too late then. So far as possible, you should avoid close contact with hungry lions for the rest of the month. I'm also getting a vibe that your car could be due for an oil change soon

(14,549 posts)It may symbolize a situation in your life where you feel you have to appease or try to make peace with something that is powerful and inescapable.
Or, the lion may symbolize death itself, or this might be more general fears about your health. Or you may feel trapped in a relationship.

Your subconscious wants you to know that even if something really dangerous looks like you can manage it for a couple of minutes, ultimately you should not ignore the danger.
