Weather like ordered by Hollywood special effects: VERY scary

I don't know if it made headlines back home, but we got whipped by a hurricane-force wind and storm last night. 60 mile-an-hour winds, rain, hail, lightning, scary stuff. Parts of trees flying all over the place--including one that gave me minor satisfaction.

There is a rich guy next door who insisted on razing the house that was there, and building an immense colossus just for himself to show off in. Well, this huge cedar that is on our property was relieved of a few large branches, one of which fell on his fancy patio and broke one of his fancy marble plates in two. Boo fucking hoo. He was over this evening whining about it, telling me we should cut down the tree, which must be over 100 years old. He is the one that wanted to build his monstrosity so close to our house. We should cut down our trees to accommodate his ego?

Others in our town were not so lucky. I saw one car smashed as if Godzilla had stomped on it. Streets blocked, no train, plane or tram service. Trees uprooted everywhere. Six dead in all in the wake of the storm. Not a trivial deal.
