Looks like I'm going to be snowed under this morning. 11 patients on the schedule, and counting. Just for the morning...

I spend as much time with each patient as the case requires. I don't let the clock practice medicine for me. But on days like today, I try to focus on the case, and keep the chit-chat to a minimum. Got another patient. Gotta go!

Finally. A chance to breath...

I guess the hidden poster was unaware of my ability to manage my time effectively. Unaware of a lot of things, actually. Like, one: I'm not a doctor.

Just like I told kids back in junior high school: if you knew me, you wouldn't have said that...

Mental health pharmaceuticals are a little out of my scope of practice.

I know docs/MD's are very prickly about their turf.

I answer their questions, and make sure there are no significant interactions with any other of their current meds. There are certain mental health medications I feel comfortable prescribing, like SSRI's; or TCA's, which have a medical indication as well as a mental health indication. And others, like anti-psychotics, that I prefer to leave to mental health providers for prescribing.
