I blame it on the gum.

So it starts like this, I found a pack of Juicy-Fruit in my softball bag last night and put two strips in my mouth.

Second inning - 2 outs - runners on 2nd & 3rd. I hit a ground ball to short and start towards first. Suddenly everyone is yelling and the first baseman is jumping in the air and coming towards me. I duck and my right toe spikes into the ground. I slid/exploded violently forward along the ground. My right shoulder hit first base SAFE! and I ended up with my feet on the bag.

Silence.... "Are you okay?!?!" everyone begins asking. I look back and see where my toe hit and the trail that snaked through red clay infield. I slid in three different directions and covered at least 12 feet. My jersey is probably permanently stained red but not my shorts. My batting glove ripped open, I have a quarter sized cut/burn above my left kneecap, my left hand is in a wrist support today .....so basically I hit on my left side and then skidded on my right upper body. The umpire joked that he thought there was a sniper in the area.

For the rest of the inning my gum had a red clay taste and crunch to it. Stoopid gum!!

Both of the runners scored and we ended up winning 5-4.
