(111,979 posts)It was really upsetting to me when my black cat Mario disappeared on Super Bowl weekend of last year.

(4,056 posts)I adopted a "Black Domestic Short hair" from the shelter. She turned out to be a Bombay, and was the most affectionate, loving cat I've ever met. Of course she was demanding and a Diva as well, but she won my heart within an hour of bringing her home, so she got away with it.
The only downside was that I was very frightened for her on Halloween--and that's because humans are so stupid and cruel. I eventually turned her into an indoor cat, and since she was kind of a hothouse flower to begin with, she didn't mind.
I think it's a good idea to keep all black cats inside 365 days of the year. Humans really suck sometimes.

(2,684 posts)We've been under the care of Bill for seven or eight years now, and love him to the utmost. He's a cuddly kitty who loves to snugg and drools like Niagara Falls during a good scritch session.
The one thing about Bill is that he is a talker, with no apparent shut up in him. When something is on his mind he lets everybody know about it, any time of day or night, including early morning. On and on he goes. Is it just him or are other black kitties as talkative (noisy)?

(111,979 posts)Of course, he didn't want for very much either. I kept his food and water bowl full or responded quickly when he ducked inside for his night time snack. After he would eat he would come up to me for some rubbing to show his appreciation. He wasn't as much of a lap kitteh as my calico, but he enjoyed having affection shown to him and he was purred a lot when we played. The one thing that I'll say about him though is that he had the sharpest claws of any of the kittens in his litter.
