Maiden's Bruce Dickinson jabs Judas Priest.

This is from a recent interview:

FT: Has your voice changed with age?

BD: Yes, the tone of it changes because your body shape changes. As you get older your voice actually gets weightier, it gets fatter. [But with Maiden] there's only one singer, there's nobody hiding behind the amps, unlike some other guys we shan't mention. And we still don't have an Autocue. Yay! I never realised that people were using Autocues. What the fuck is that all about? People pay good money and you can't even remember the sodding words. The daftest one I ever saw was [Judas Priest's] Breaking the Law. It's on the fucking Autocue. "Breaking the law, breaking the law/Breaking the law, breaking the law/Breaking the law, breaking the law/Breaking the law" – guess what? – "breaking the law." It's ludicrous.

I love both bands - they obliterate 99.9% of all the bullshit that passes as music today - but Bruce cracked me up there.

I had no idea what Autocue was until this post, but I guess it makes sense that it existed. Gene Simmons would have benefited greatly

I actually teared up a little when watching that Maiden documentary about their South American tour in Ed Force One

Iron Maiden gets the nod for maintaining their quality sound consistently over the years; Never kow tow-ing to "corporate rock" by mellowing their sound for broader appeal.

I went to see Maiden open for Judas Priest at Madison Sq Garden back in the 80's. JP got banned for life for what the fans did and Halford's "in-action". Now that was ludicrous.
