I was scrolling thru Netflix, and came across that movie....Starred Walter Matthau, and Jill Clayburgh....Looks like any interesting story line (pasted summary below)...It's not currently available, though you can save it to your que if it does become available at some point...
"Conservative Ruth Loomis (Clayburgh) has just become the first woman to be appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court. Seven of her male counterparts appreciate and accept their new female colleague, but one -- the steadfast liberal Dan Snow (Matthau) -- does not".

(2,900 posts)Matthau did much better in just about everything else. It wasn't his fault, it was a weak story.
A HERETIC I AM
(24,363 posts)The new lady Justice is notified that Matthau's character is coming to see her. She cleans off her desk in order to impress him (his desk is notoriously cluttered).
He walks in and noticing the vast expanse of polished wood, he swoops his hand down on it like a landing airplane while saying;
"Nice desk. Do aircraft often land here?"

question everything
(47,444 posts)Probably before Reagan nominated Sandra Day O'Connor, so she was the first woman on the court and in contrast to what one expected, she was a conservative.
I don't remember how it ends. Whether these two opposites fall in love, Hollywood style..
