and have found the non-answers can be categorized:

1. Way too dangerous to muck with an evil spirit.
2. There's no such thing as an evil spirit.
3. Jesus will save you.

I'd try to mess with whatever the spirit uses, lights or appliances, or playing sounds in the night. There's always the mirror-in-the-doorway thing, too.

I agree with #1 on antiquie-- too dangerous to muck around with evil spirits.

It might have the same effect as a laser light has to a cat.

Have the evil spirit chase the light like a cat chases a laser light!

Edit: I'd have the light device controlled by remote with a video monitor in the room so I can keep a safe distance in case this doesn't turn out funny at all.

i know when i'm bored i always like to play pranks on murderous evil spirits too

my favorite one is to turn on a halloween sound effects machine that has a ghostly sound of "boooooo" that loops over and over. then i watch the evil spirits looking all around for the other ghost and not being able to find it!

that's really fun to do.

oh, and i like to put a fan behind the curtains so the evil spirits will think a ghost is moving the curtains because the window is closed. that really drives them crazy.

and sometimes i turn the lights on and off by remote control just to confuse them.
