Marl Twain was more of a writer, Colbert is more of a performer.
Groucho Marx was not that political, he was more cultural. And his sexual double entendre humor was cutting edge for it's time.
Will Rogers was funniest in print, not much of a live act.
I think what makes Colbert great is he is like no other in history. He is completely unique as a performer and I think there is much more to him that we have not even seen yet. I hope his life as a performer is long and prolific.
I'm pretty sure he's the second coming. I'd have to see him in a beard and a robe to be totally sure, though.
