I watched the show in England that spawned Sanford and Son - it was called Steptoe and Son and was freaking hilarious

and the running joke "He's very clean." was a reference to Steptoe. His name was Wilfred Brambel is IIRC.

I loved the musical intro written by the great Quincy Jones. Sadly though, I don't think I can remember the plotline of a single episode. I'm so pathetic, having watched thousands of hours of shows in front of the TV with nothing to show for it. I do remember the two cops, one white and one black who had hilarious exchanges with Fred and LaMont. The white cop was very sober and uptight and his statements were cop speech and had to be translated by the cool black cop. The white cop always tried to use hip words like get it on or right on and always made a stupid mistake.

Speaking of All In The Family, perhaps I should do a poll on that show?

"What is your favorite episode of All In The family?"

It would be hard for me to pick just one; since I loved them all, but I probably would pick the one where Edith goes through Menopause
