I had that feeling this morning.
I actually knew I was in my current bedroom and not my childhood bedroom, but before I really opened my eyes, I still had the feeling of exactly how everything in my old room was situated...the bed, the windows, the closet, the door, and I had the subconscious feeling I was back there.
I hadn't slept in my old room for probably 15 years now.
The sensation only lasted about 2-3 seconds but was strangely calming as I came back to the present day.

(8,217 posts)When I was young, I did not have my own room. I shared it with a group of siblings, an aunt and I was passed around as a child, so sometimes I am at a large room with grand parents and my sister, and sometimes I was in the living room with mattresses on the floor shared with a bunch of cousins.
I am actually not too keen in experiencing such a thing once more, even in a waking dream.

(6,679 posts)Just recently. A room where I was in the top bunk. Seemed to be either dusk or first light. I have an aunt still living and asked her. She said the first place my parents lived, before they bought the house was that bedroom.
I could even hear and smell the car repair place behind the apartment because the window was open. Lasted just a few seconds but in vivid detail. For a moment the sheets were those sheets.
I used to solve complicated homework problems back in the day in those not quite asleep and not awake moments too.

Maybe you WERE in your childhood room for a short time.
