Taffety Stomacher

I was reading through some 17th century colonial Massachusetts court records in which my ancestor Simon “Symon” Tuttle’s name appears (Simon was a piece of work) and in a 1665 entry, I came across “taffety stomacher.”

I figured it was something made out of taffeta, but I didn’t know what, so I googled it and found out what stomachers are and learned they haven’t gone out of fashion. (I’ve seen them but didn’t know they were called stomachers. What a funny name for them.)

I hadn't thought of that, just Taffety Stomacher as a screen name. Either would work great!
