8 month advance for ticket sales - yay or nay?

I say nay and this is becoming a dangerous trend that must be stopped. I just got an email in my inbox advertising the band Twentyone Pilots, that I love, were going to be playing in Vegas. Then I looked at the date.

Fuck you, concert promoters. July 16th? I am supposed to know what I am going to be doing 8 months in advance?? It's not just an isolated incident. It's happening everywhere. I had a very small hope that we could have squashed this bug in the movie world with Star Wars, but nope, looks like we are going to see more of this bullshit.

In April and May of this year, The Who were touring North America. Three of the concerts had to be rescheduled because of Roger's voice failing.

I had tickets for Kansas City, rescheduled for December of 2015. Then I got a notice from Sprint Center that they were rescheduled for April 29, 2016. Roger Daltrey has had viral meningitis. That sounds a lot worse than just throat strain from singing. I'm worried about him.

If they weren't one of the greatest bands of the sixties, I wouldn't have gotten tickets in the first place.

You can't help illness or injury, that happens to everyone. But crap like this is what leads to things like venues double booking concerts. And that ultimately hurts everyone.

My wife and I bought tickets 6 months in advance to an Eric Clapton-Steve Winwood tour here in Germany. We stuck the tickets in the "coming events drawer" anf forgot about them. Then came the invitation to my nephew's graduation in Washington. Of course, we went. We even decided to stay an extra day to sleep off our jet lag. When we got back to Germany, we looked int he drawer and saw that the Clapton-Winwood concert had been the night before--that extra day we had decided to stay in Washington.

There's one memorable event we'll never have a memory of!
