to rant about the media reaction to e-cigarettes. I quit smoking because of them. Yes, I like a puff off of an e-cigarette every now and then, but they aren't going to kill me as fast as I was dying to cigarettes.
I run now because my lungs function, I lift weights because I'm not sluggish due to lack of oxygen, and I smell infinitely better than a day old ashtray.
I had to explain an e-cigarette to my 82 year old father who was afraid I was in a cult and doing drugs how they work.
Lay the hell off, everybody, and let people freaking quit smoking. I quit drinking coffee two and a half years ago, because nothing compares to that experience. I quit doing things that I associate with smoking - yeah I'm different, I don't want to start back up.
I have dreams about the shit. I wake up relieved, in a cold sweat, that I haven't smoked.
I have a little pack of cigarettes shrine that I look at - it's 6 cigarettes, in a sealed pack. They are there if I crack. But I absolutely refuse to crack.
I have decided not to kill myself anymore by smoking. I run, work out, and I am healthier than I have been in years.
Can you quit making e-cigarettes out to be the greatest sin known to mankind?
You won't make me smoke again. I can promise you that.

(43,049 posts)if they were around I would have jumped on them.
The hysterical reaction against them is idiotic.

(39,961 posts)Half of my family thought I'm on bath salts or something the way the news talks about it.
No, I just quit smoking in the easiest way I could since I know it was going to kill me and have been trying to get off of the sob-ing cigarettes for years.

(39,961 posts)probably the assholeish, bitchiest, most soul-dredging horrible thing I've ever done.
It has been awful. I would have crawled though a wall for a smoke.
I don't need one now.

(39,961 posts)I have no intention of starting smoking again. I have wanted to quit for years. I've tried everything.
Quit drinking coffee. Failed. (didn't start drinking coffee again, because it would likely make me fail). Running. My lungs died. Weights, my lungs died.
These are things that I like to do, but couldn't.
Tried an e-cigarette as my last hope.
And I will be *damned to hell* if I smoke another cigarette. I am no longer Marlboro's customer.
That was a major breakthrough for me, and here is sit, 8 months later.

(10,418 posts)I quit cold turkey and it was one of the hardest things I've ever done. I'm not opposed to e-cigs, or the patch, or the gum. I tried all of them in the past and I just didn't like them. The main thing is that you are finished with tobacco. I don't care what tools people use to accomplish that. Some people swear by nicotine replacement products. The main thing is to be done with tobacco.
Congratulations on what you have accomplished.
And I am done with smoking. Like you, I finally "got there".

(8,558 posts)I had tried everything, including cold turkey, more than once. Vaping has made it doable.

(39,961 posts)than smoke again. I am so glad to be rid of that demon, that if vaping is my demon, I'm happy with it.
I love exercise, and I didn't realize how limited I was when I was smoking.

I got my EgoOne and Dr Crimmy on speed dial. We can play poker in my apartment without making half the players sick this winter.
Yay for us!

There is absolutely no reason to stay on them, and every reason to BE off of them.
And you guys need to deal me in at some point
bettyellen
(47,209 posts)want. That is all that matters. I was smoking too much out of stress, I had to stop. Good for you!
Consider yourself dealt in when you make it up to NYish next time.

I am just like you - I was too stressed, and my body did not need to be stressed on top of it all.
I feel better than I have in years! I put the cigarettes down and if anyone thinks they can shame me for taking a puff on an ecigarette?
Laughable.

(47,209 posts)vaporizer "condoms" from the vape store and offer people sterile hits off it! I'm mixing flavors and swapping them. I'm going to set up one for other people to use when I have them over to decorate the tree in December. So they don't have to go downstairs to smoke. I'm all in. Can't wait for it to be a whole year, so I stop counting the weeks.

(39,961 posts)I'm going to have to get some!
Hell, that's a great idea.
bettyellen
(47,209 posts)a flavor bar set up (It's a chain called AltSmoke) and they hand you a battery pack and a condom and help you select flavors set up in tanks to try on their vape pen, with the condom. But they have a dish of them out- and I just asked if I could take a few to let people try. I'm sure you can find a source.
They realize it's a good way to get referrals, so they are fine with me taking a few every time I go. They also do a 15% off first time or when you've referred someone, and a bonus program too. A couple years ago when I tried before, there was only a head-shop hybrid thing, and they had only cheesy basic flavors and crappy vape pens that they didn't know how to fix. This place helps you out with issues if the pens aren't functioning well too. Now it seems there are a lot more places that specialize in a much better vaping experience, and that has helped me so much. I am not a fan of the fruit flavors, and have moved away from menthols into cereal and custard flavors. I just ordered some custom mixes from Dr Crimmy because he does those very well (in varying strengths, floor mixes and pg ratios) compared to other cheap brands. I was experimenting a lot and liked some expensive mixes, so needed to cut corners, so I bought a few big bottles. Good stuff.
People balk, and I'm like OMG, I love it. And that is all that matters! For Xmas, I was going to get a reg tobacco blend and a spare for friends. It will help during poker too- less disruption if people don't have to leave the table.

(39,961 posts)I've tried a bunch of others, but my go to is "555" from Goodejuice.com.
It's like hitting a Malboro Red without the coughing up things that can move on their own in the shower.
I'm nerdy - I was a hardcore Marlboro Red smoker for years, and this is the only thing that comes close, and I've tried the fruit flavors. Just didn't do it for me.
I've had other folks try it, and they don't like it.
We like what we like. It's fantastic if you like a real smoke taste.

(39,961 posts)I am quite sure that cigarette sales are going to plummet once people realize they can get their "fix" without killing themselves (and FAR cheaper).
