do I have a bad USPS carrier?

here it is, 430 PM Saturday and he hasn't found the way to my mailbox as yet. This is the same carrier that put my mail in a box 2 avenues over and my neighbors mail in my box 3 x. The one time I went out to check the mail and found the neighbors, I called him back and he said, "Geez, I don't know what the hell I was thinking."

How long should I put up with this before I call the main guys?

I do understand he's under pressure but damint, I'm waiting for checks to hit my mailbox and apparently he got tired and went home early.

btw, the neighborhood hasn't gotten any mail either. Have they stopped delivery on Saturdays?

1. My advice would be: Stop into the local PO and ask if there has been a change in carrier.

I would be talking to P.O. Boxes.

This carrier sucks. Yeah, I know, there might be problems but this carrier is in my opinion lazy and wants to cut corners even if it means not delivering the mail.

4:57 now, still no mail on the block I live on.

3. Obviously you'll wait until they are open to speak with the Post Master.

Try to relax. It isn't likely you'll be getting mail today.

16. Even PO Boxes are no guarantee of good USPS service

In mid-December I was sent a certified letter on an important legal matter that needed to be taken care of by the end of the year. I never got notice of it and the sender got it back in mid-February. According to the notes on the envelope it arrived at the post office here on December 20 and notices were put in my box on the 20, 22, and 24 of December - but I never got a single notice of its arrival.

I got notices of other items sent to that PO Box in the same period but NOT one for the certified letter - which should be a priority over packages from Amazon and other merchants!

When I complained to the supervisor at the post office she just told me they were real busy and someone must have messed up.

I am really glad the letter was not a notice of legal action - I'd lose my case if I didn't appear in court!

Last week my friend complained that his mail had arrived several hours late. He said the carrier told him that a company's catalog would not fit in the mailboxes and had to be taken to each of about forty doorsteps.

The rest:
me: "Oh, they were hardcover?"
he: "No, they wouldn't fit in the mailboxes."
me: "So why didn't he fold them?"
he: "You can't fold them. They're like books."

8. Yeah, it is doubtful that someone would send the entire ledger.

It is also doubtful that my friend can understand that the 40 catalogs went to those residing before him on the route; in his mind they should should have to wait, and not him. Thanks for the hat tip. I'll keep my stupid suggestions to myself.

The Japanese say you don't want to break someone's rice bowl.
But this person is being paid to do something they're apparently not doing.

If you can, go to the post office and talk to the head guy face to face.
Maybe there's something going on in the carrier's life or whatever.
In any event, I think they would want to know there's a problem.

The trucks that brought the mail to your local post office were likely late. We get that sometimes too. 7pm and the mailman is just showing up.....grumpy. They stood around for 3 hours waiting on the mail to come in so they can take it out.

Plus I swear all the envelopes for the week come at once and the rest of the week is junk mail. Apparently the sorting center only processing envelopes once or twice a week now.

13. I complained anonymously online on USPS website with great results

For almost 2 years we had same mail carrier who was misdelivering to wrong addresses in the neighborhood. Plus my TV Guide magazine was always many days late, not fresh looking or sometimes never arrived at all. Since my street box is down a long driveway from my house, I had already set up a PO Box at Post Office for security of my financial mail but I only pick up mail there weekly or even less often. I finally changed my TV Guide to my PO Box and I sent an online complaint- I worded my complaint just using name of street explaining that several of us were affected by poor delivery and missing/late magazines. I was afraid of retaliation so I didn't put my exact address on my complaint.

Within a couple of weeks, that mail carrier no longer handled our route and our mail is never misdelivered anymore. It has been over a year now and my TV Guide has consistently arrived early and brand new at my PO Box so I am sure the mail carrier was borrowing or stealing it when it came to my street address.

17. Is delivery different on Saturday than other days of the week?
Sun Mar 20, 2016, 10:09 AM

I know a carrier who only works certain days so the regular carriers can get days off. She has one route she works every Saturday then she fills in for carriers who take leave time, are sick or are off for other reasons.

She's told me that if she does not work her regular Saturday route, they just pull some random substitute from another route. Sometimes if they are short a carrier has to work theirs, then substitute on that one. The times when she has made mistakes are when she is called to substitute with no warning. Then she gets no training for that route and has to figure it out as best she can.

That may be what happened to your neighborhood - no substitutes and a carrier may be stacking routes so delivery is late. Or since the USPS is cutting staff, they may not have any substitutes available.
