I've never personally met a more cold hearted ass

A young couple live on an adjoining wall - we've heard more than a few yelling matches coming out of there. Eventually someone slams a door and it stops.... only to start up again a few days or a week later. We've seen them a couple times in passing but never talked much. Tonight at 11 pm she came knocking on our door. Blubbering type crying.

She was thinking about suicide. She just couldn't take it anymore. Wanted to divorce but figured her whole family would throw her away if she did. The poor girl just felt like trash... it was heartbreaking to listen to. He doesn't beat her - doesn't cheat on her that she knows of - he just generally doesn't want her at all and treats her like she's unwantable.

I don't know anything about that husband but who the fuck listens to his wife tell him she's considering suicide and then tell her that's too bad and goes on to bed. Who the fuck does that?

So we've made her comfy on the day bed in the other bedroom. I'm a big girl so my jammies are way too big but they'll do for one night. Yeah, it's drama we could live without but we can't turn her away. I mean seriously... what the fuck is wrong with people?

try to get her into some sliding-scale therapy - she needs to get some self-esteem and get the hell away from that guy

Usually every county or parish has a mental health center or a university/college that offers affordable (or free) counseling. A good place to start is to google your county's name for the mental health center. If there is none (which would shock me), try the closest university or college. Good luck to her.

I agree. If you can, please get her to a women's shelter or counseling or something. She needs to be helped to see that she is not helping him by staying and she is hurting herself, perhaps dangerously so, by staying. No one knows when he will snap. unfortunately you are involved whether you want to be or not. Big hugs, KW. You did not ask for this. Please jump on it. And be careful.

from that guy. I know it's a lot easier said then done. Maybe she has some relatives or good friends who could take her in. Once again, you did good.
