Tax help: can I qualify for the Earned Income Credit if I'm receiving VA, SSDI or FERS Disability?

Does anyone know if I can qualify for the EIC (Earned Income Credit) if I'm receiving VA disability (paid at the 100% disabled rate), SSDI, and FERS Disability (Federal Employee Retirement System)?

I believe it has to be considered "earned" income for you to qualify. I'm pretty sure SSDI and the VA disability don't qualify me for the EIC, but I'm not so sure about the FERS-D. Since I'm receiving the FERS-D as a disability benefit from my previous employer I'm not exactly sure if that is considered "earned" or not.

Any ideas or any thoughts?

Thanks,

Victor

p.s. I just had another thought. Say I was earning under the limit I'm allowed to earn from employment while still receiving SSDI (i.e roughly $1,000 or less a month). Could that count as earned income and thus qualify me for the EIC in following tax years?
