Another milestone for our little group of "Classic Reds" and Pinkos..........

As many of you know I like to keep up with the growth of this group and post about this from time to time.

We've passed another milestone, I just checked and we now have 300 members. As a group host almost from it's inception, I'd like to thank TBF for finding this when we switched DUs a few years ago and for her hosting duties through the years. And to Starry Messenger for her work as an active host also. I would like to think that we have proven that many different tendencies CAN discuss issues intelligently and disagree without being disagreeable. Congrats to all of our posters for their inputs into making this safe haven a reality for those of us on the "far left" of politics in this forum and this country.

Maybe we won't actually "change the world", but at least we've got a place to DISCUSS changing the world!

I just joined this group (and DU, as well) yesterday. I've lurked for a little while, and this seems like a cool place. Rare to find a place where far lefties don't rip each other to bits. I guess I would consider myself a non-sectarian socialist who leans anarchist. Somewhere at the intersection of Eugene Debs and Emma Goldman. I can find value in a lot of different ideas from various left tendencies. I've read a lot, and there's a lot I haven't read, also. Anyway, looking forward to meeting and having good discussions with comrades here.

Welcome!

I think that one reason that we can keep things pretty reasonable is because there ARE so many different tendencies represented here and we all know each other. At least as well as you can know someone over internet posts. I believe that the key to influence with people is stating your beliefs and analysis and seeing whether it works out or not. Over a length of time, you get a feel for who's been right more than wrong and you begin to pay more attention to the ones who have been right most.

I don't believe in harsh polemics. And I've engaged in polemics before, but my polemics don't come from a place of ego, but from trying to make the movement for Marxism work and gain influence. It's very difficult to change someone's view if you're yelling invective at them, EVEN IF YOU ARE RIGHT.
