African American tenor Lawrence Brownlee

If you follow Lyric Opera of Chicago on social media, you might have gotten a heads-up about today's broadcast of Bellini's I Puritani on WFMT and other stations. Singing Arturo: American tenor Lawrence Brownlee. As one critic put it, “If there is a finer Arturo in the world other than Lawrence Brownlee, I haven’t heard him, and I have heard them all.”

Check out his website, and look for interviews, articles, and other media. Circumstances have made it harder for us to hear him live, but he's not letting the grass grow under his feet.

Brilliant singer, with a tenor of unmatched agility.

Very nice guy, too.

I'm always glad to hear an artist was lovely in person.

And his website suggests a breadth of interests, which is always refreshing.
