My invasive gardens
This is perennials run amok along the fence. At this end is my very large, very healthy peony plant that I'm hoping will finally bloom this year.
A wayward ligularia moves into meadow rue territory
If I didn't get ruthless with the strawberry plants, they'd take over the whole yard.
Violas self-seed in my vegetable garden. I'm not sure where they came from; they moved in about 20 years ago. I was going to dig up the plantain, but I read that they're medicinal, so I left them alone.
I started all of these from seeds several years ago. Now they just do what they want. Imagine all the daisies, Maltese cross and columbines blooming in a couple weeks. Later we get lupines, oriental poppies, bachelor buttons and other self-seeders that take a little longer to come up.

(18,219 posts)and I was thinking, Blue has no idea what a mess looks like......but further on, I can see the enchantment of chaos.
I love all the flowers, and I do hope you get peony flowers on that plant....it does look very healthy and happy.

(46,436 posts)I pull them out early on before everything gets tall. There's no room for any now.
