Related: About this forumSpring finally sprung and a June bug showed up.
We've had a late spring around here so had to do a lot of waiting for buds..
to finally flower.
The green stuff seemed to pop up over night after 1 warm day.
I got to see peonies that I planted last fall bloom for the first time.
A wonderful yellow that I bought on trust from an Amish family. Loving it!
Along with a perfect pink.
And my first peony that started my search for more survived winter and is still a favorite.
We had a little princess do a ballet recital May 31.
And then on June 2 a little June bug arrived...
Her parents are thrilled though mom was also saying FINALLY since she was due May 23. (Nephew, fiancee and their new baby girl. Big sister, aka Princess Ballerina, was not there as she had enough of being still and went home with Grandma)
She's only a few hours old in these photos.
Though I not sure who was happier to see her, her parents or her Great Grand-mom.
The little June bug's name is Lacee and is my grand-niece.
Still lots of work to do on garden beds
but that little June bug has kept me distracted from doing any work on them.

Love the peonies. Don't think I've ever seen a yellow one!
I never saw a yellow until this spring. It was the only one they had and no blooms but had to try it. Glad I did.

(149,517 posts)These are wonderful pictures! Thank you SO MUCH for all of them.
The flowers are just magnificent, and your grand-niece is exquisite. I especially love the shot of her from the top of her head. What a beautiful photo. Her skin is incredibly soft looking, even in a picture.
The princess was also looking fabulous!
Thank you for all of these!

(18,219 posts)The poppy buds are lovely, and I can see why your first peony got you started with them. They last such a short time, but are so beautiful. I have never seen anything like that "first peony" and I am impressed.
Your patriotic display is gorgeous too. I have tried to find blue petunias that don't look too purple, and I never can get the right color to go with red and white. That looks perfect.
And congratulations on your June bug. Those photos are so nice, I am sure that the parents will treasure them.

(8,039 posts)purple but it works when you throw them in with the red & white so I would suggest you go for it if you want all petunias. My mom got these when she saw them as she knew I needed milk can flowers. If you don't mind a mix of flowers you could use blue lobelia for the blue. The whole patriotic outside decor started with a barn star and expanded with a take back the flag from the right-wing, conservative machine. You would never believe how irked a rwnj can get over a liberal claiming the flag and I have fun tweaking the nut jobs around here.

(18,219 posts)I agree that the flag and patriotism is as much a Democratic thing as a rwnj thing. Actually, I do use white and red petunias with the blue lobelia.....but your blue is so pretty and the blue flowers are so much smaller.
Whenever I hear that liberals are anti-America, I think that the right wing are the ones who have it wrong....not that you can tell them.

(8,039 posts)it has been a while since we had a newborn in the family locally and even longer since a girl was close by. I still have buds on the peonies so I'll have a few more yet. My yard seems to be a couple weeks behind even my neighbors yards.
