(8,991 posts)to get a shot of a Blue heron landing in front of me and the Mink, all of a sudden, popped up and was going to climb up on the dock at my feet. I saw the mink, it saw me, I got off two shots and it was gone. I didn't think I got the shot because I thought that it was too close for the camera (using a 70-300mm lens) to focus on it. Lucky.
Also lucky in another sense. Minks can get very nasty if upset and if it climbed up on the dock and had an issue with me I would have no place to go. My back was against a steep wooded bank and water on both sides. It could have been very unpleasant.

(18,219 posts)The camera focused beautifully. You are lucky to get a shot since mink are usually very elusive.
Did you get that heron????? Oh, who cares now! The mink was a keeper.

(18,219 posts)Too bad the light was a little too bright at the time. But it is a wonderful shot, you can be proud of that one. I can't wait till you get the one you want.
