Do any of you westerners know what these are? They were growing all around Red Rocks in Colorado.

(20,886 posts)Friends and clients have them. I've been trying to grow them for years. Seeds. Plants. No go. They don't like me. I, however, like them.

(9,314 posts)They are beautiful flowers - I love poppies of all kinds - they are my favorite. The wallpaper on my desktop is a picture of a poppy.
I'm trying to grow some Oriental poppies this year, but I got a late start so I don't know if they will grow or not.

(36,421 posts)I forgot my camera on my hike yesterday! I saw lots of these in the meadows. They look like big paper flowers. So pretty! Glad you got a shot of them!

(46,436 posts)but, yes, we enjoyed our hikes very much. We spent one day in Staunton State Park and one day at Red Rocks. We also got to see James Taylor in concert at Red Rocks, which was absolutely awesome. Unfortunately, they didn't allow "real" cameras and I couldn't figure out how to operate my husband's Samsung point & shoot. Lol.

(36,421 posts)I haven't seen a concert there in years, but I've hiked around the amphitheater a few times. Glad you enjoyed some trails in our beautiful state!

(46,436 posts)than the past two years we've been down there (although the past two years were in July, so maybe the timing was just better). We drove out to Fairplay the day we did Staunton Park. The grass out there in South Park was so lush and green, I thought, boy, these are some lucky cows!
