Unfortunate placement of that large white clipboard. I tried to tone it down a bit, but my Ps skills need help.

(1,037 posts)City officials consider it a public health and hygiene issue due to irresponsible dog owners not cleaning up the dog poop after their pet has gone. Shoppers complained and now dogs are no longer allowed. As usual the lazy dirt bags ruin it for everyone. BTW I shop there all the time.

Bad humans. That's the problem.

(19,459 posts)The owner was right there to the right, just out of frame, talking to someone. The pup actually appeared quite content, and was something of a pats-magnet for passersby while we were there.
No doubt he would have liked to have been off that leash.

(90,740 posts)I don't blame the owner for having to leash the baby. I blame the bad humans who never clean up after their pets. Makes all dogs look bad.

(90,740 posts)The potential, and actual use, of photographs as propaganda has a greater impact, I think, than words. (A picture is worth a 1000 words & all that)
Course, one should never shortchange the idiom (and/or the quote, cliché, sound bite, etc..)
Short attention spans, coupled with existing bias, make appeals to emotion a powerful tool that photos can use to great advantage.
Reading takes time, and might offer a differing take on a photo used as part of the article/piece.
A photo out of sequence can add to a biased piece.
A photo alone is like art - open to interpretation (and filtered through existing biases) - though one can direct how it is intended to be viewed through placement, timing, header, etc..
I didn't know this was going to turn serious.
Damn, dog.

Probably at the St Helena Market, too, although I don't go to that one.

(19,459 posts)Like the first poster said, when folks don't clean up after their animals it becomes an issue.
Plus, you've always got the potential for conflict between pups.
We occasionally go to the Farmers Market that Kaiser holds at their Vallejo campus on Thursdays, but it's pretty small.
We do get Farm Box deliveries twice a month, and those are nice. Fresh local stuff.

they allow dogs. You can google it to find one in your area.

(19,459 posts)He looks quite sad, but Solly and I discussed the difference between what the photo shows and what was actually happening.
Still, he wasn't allowed in.

(31,318 posts)in La Jolla. Certainly stepping in dog poop in your $300. sneakers
would not go over well in that environment.
I kind of felt sorry for the pup, too. It's easy to find out (on-line) if you've never
been to a farmer's market whether they allow dogs. The ones that don't--around here
anyway--make no bones about not allowing dogs.

He genuinely did look lonely.

(19,459 posts)At first I thought it was a baby stroller being repurposed for pups.
But, no, that's a stroller for dogs...
