A close look at Horse Herb, a wild native ground cover in Texas.

It grows 6-8 inches tall and makes profuse tiny flowers like this one. Does well in shade or part sun and will tolerate some foot traffic. Dies to the ground in winter which is the only downside, that and controlling it. The bloom is perhaps 1/8 inch across.

It also makes a great habitat for all sorts of small critters.

Interesting ground cover. I always think of those as low to the ground, making it easy to walk on. This is different.

But with that height, it does provide shade and shelter to the small animals that live in it.
