First Morning Glory of the summer.
A slightly refrigerated Grass Hopper. These things are hard to capture. I couldn't catch the one I wanted, much larger than this one and more colorful with browns and emerald greens. For another day I suppose.

(14,559 posts)If I can catch one of the big ones I'll post pics of it too. Like most insects there a huge variety of 'hoppers. I like them and dragon flies because they look like machines with armor plates, hinges and I imagine gears.
The large ones are proficient fliers. One leapt into the air and flew in circles for more than 10 seconds. Some have very colorful wings which, unfortunately, you can't see when they're alive.
