The wisdom of the Doctor

I was wandering through the fora of one of my new favorite websites, previously.tv, and came across a post concerning quotes from the various Doctors -- Doctor Who, I mean, of course.

From the Fourth Doctor, played by Tom Baker, in the The Face of Evil, Season 14, written by Chris Boucher:

"You know, the very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They don't alter their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts to fit their views."


I think I may have to change my signature line. Though this episode takes place on a jungle planet populated by descendents of an Earth survey team and ruled by a demented computer, the quote also fits perfectly with the powers-that-be and the people that make up much of the support of the Republican party.
