but it looks as if it's going to be a relatively dry year.

(23,307 posts)I would agree. Almost no snow here in western Montana. Sometimes we get slammed with big storms in February and that saves us from wildfires in the summer months. It was 45 degrees today. Unheard of in January. Not good.

(34,661 posts)That massive High Pressure Dome center about 500 miles west south west of LA seems to be blocking any Moisture coming towards Southern Nevada. Compared to last year at this time,we have only received about a quarter of our seasonal rain fall.

(14,958 posts)On one hand, it is always possible to get blasted by an "atmospheric river" or "pineapple express" in Feb or Mar and get a couple months worth of winter precip in a week... but that's not very likely, is it?

(51,584 posts)due to a ton of rain in Nov and Dec. We had 150% by 2020. Everything is green like it normally is in March, when the rainy season is ending.

(22,896 posts)Hope we get some more in Feb & March
Even if we weren't behind ( which we aren't really), I'd still be bummed if we had a low-rainfall season since I love the rain so much!!

(297 posts)I worked on FB to help spread the word about animals stranded on ranches, and leaving water out.
I don't know if I could do it again.

(22,896 posts)Bless your heart for doing that-- I supported the effort with donations but wonder how much that really helped.

(10,133 posts)and not much on the horizon. We can probably get by with one dry year, but historically there have been multi-year runs of dry years: I'm expecting another drought cycle.

(22,896 posts)I hope we at least get SOME rain before the long, hot, summer begins to suffocate us.
I (and many others, apparently) loathe summers

(36,416 posts)Seems like a short month or two ago we were looking at numbers way north of 100%

Here's hoping for a March miracle, and all the associate localized flooding. Pineapple Express, do you thing!
