The "No" votes, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, were because some lawmakers were concerned the bill would strip away control from local communities and wouldn't provide enough housing anyway.
Two big needs shelved again -- housing and transit.
NOTHING GETS DONE BECAUSE OF A FEW NIMBY ASSHOLES.

(4,613 posts)the bill as written would have done nothing to provide actual affordable housing and would have just allowed developers to continue to run wild building "luxury" units on every corner in every city.

(36,417 posts)The general plan in my Podunk city was ready to be shredded by unscrupulous developers, with the help of some of our unscrupulous city council members. Funny how none of them live in my section of town that was to be targeted.
I'm privy to some of the plans these thugs were fermenting, so I'm glad SB 50 died.
