Why was his name even on the ballot? If it was too late to remove it, signs should have been posted in precincts saying he wasn't a candidate.

The Yee votes came from SoCal, where the scandal was not widely reported.

edit: He got 11 percent in Santa Clara County (San Jose and environs). So much for that theory.
