Delaware's Hall-Long to replace embattled Virginia Lt. Gov. as head of Dem. organization
Delaware Lt. Gov. Bethany Hall-Long was named co-chair of the Democratic Lieutenant Governors Association on Friday, replacing Justin Fairfax, her embattled contemporary in Virginia.
Fairfax, Virginia's 39-year-old lieutenant governor, faces calls to resign from within his own party after two women have accused him of sexual assault. Fairfax said he is innocent.
DLGA officials did not comment on those allegations in their statement announcing Hall-Long and Washington Lt. Gov. Cyrus Habib as the organization's interim co-chairs.
The DLGA is a nationwide group made up of Democratic lieutenant governors in 21 states and two U.S. territories. The organization supports their work and organizes to elect Democrats to the post in other states.
