After protests on Tuesday night that stretched into the
early hours of the morning, demonstrators were back out bright and early Wednesday for a demonstration at the U.S. Capitol.
Beginning in the morning, what looked like hundreds of people gathered outside the building, which was blocked off by barricades. Police stood behind the metal barriers as the Senate was in session inside. (1)
The demonstration marks the sixth consecutive day of protests in D.C. following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Participants held signs with slogans reading PROTECT BLACK FUTURES and NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE. (2)
The protest appeared to be largely peaceful, as participants chanted, Hands up, dont shoot! and, This is what democracy looks like! (3)
