Today's sunrise in DC, 5:59 a.m. Today's sunset in DC, 8:30 p.m.

The times are from my 1998 Bob Ryan's Almanac. There won't be another sunset at or later than 8:30 p.m. until next May 5.

I thought around June 20 was the longest day and then it gets shorter
