Jerry Demings is hurting Val Demings' VP chances in their home county!

Jerry Demings is the Orange Co mayor where Rep Val Demings is from.

The whole world knows that COVID is spiking in FL.

But Jerry Demings is doing nothing. Teachers are calling for him to come to their side and tell the OCPS School Board it’s unsafe to open schools. The OCPS School Board wants local authorities to help build a case to keep schools closed.

The Orange County Classroom Teachers Association FB page is blowing up with complaints about him and the Dem mayor of Orlando, Buddy Dyer.

They are silent instead of ordering a return to Phase 1, curfews, and recommending school closures.

This will spill over into presidential politics if they don’t watch out. Teachers in FL are angry and scared.

And the OCPS Board meets tomorrow morning to finalize school start plans. If Mayor Demings is silent, this will hurt Rep Demings.

I remember hearing a while back that they were allowing wrestling to continue as an "essential business" as other businesses were shutting down - was he part of that decision to allow it?

I don't think he would piss off teachers which who are a strong support group for Biden if this wasn't the case.

have gone into hiding.

And it’s going to hurt both in the next election with teachers.

And we don’t entirely know if Val is off the list.

from wikipedia:

In 1983, Demings applied for a job with the Orlando Police Department (OPD); her first assignment was on patrol on Orlando's west side.[5] Demings was appointed as Chief of the Orlando Police Department in 2007, becoming the first woman to lead the department.[8][9]

According to a 2015 article in The Atlantic, the Orlando Police Department "has a long record of excessive-force allegations, and a lack of transparency on the subject, dating back at least as far as Demings's time as chief."[10] A 2008 Orlando Weekly exposé described the Orlando Police Department as "a place where rogue cops operate with impunity, and there's nothing anybody who finds himself at the wrong end of their short fuse can do about it."[11] Demings responded with an op-ed in the Orlando Sentinel, arguing that "Looking for a negative story in a police department is like looking for a prayer at church" and added that "It won't take long to find one." In the same op-ed, she cast doubt on video evidence that conflicts with officers' statements in excessive force cases, writing, "a few seconds (even of video) rarely capture the entire set of circumstances."[10]

Who is this Jerry Demings? Val Demings is her own person, with her own record that speaks for itself. Why are female politicians always tied to the record of a male counterpart? Hillary had to deal with this bs also.
I don't believe she will be chosen because of her law enforcement history which may become an issue in November. Heck, my girl Kamala has similar issues. However, I believe and I hope team Biden is better than using Jerry Demings' (whoever he is) problems to eliminate a female VP pick.

Does everything have to be about gender?

No!

The fact is if people are mad in Central FL and they see the Demings name on a ballot in the future it may not end well for said individual given how COVID is going here!!

So yes I do see her gender. Again I ask what does Val Demings have to do with this?
To claim that voters will judge your merit because of your surname is an insult to the voters. Many people have similar surnames. I never knew we had a surname litmus test in choosing candidates.

I see no victims here, just someone who thinks highly of their opinion and doesn't like opposing views. I'm not here for the trivialities.
