Please tell me the "Dem" that said he was ok with getting rid of Social Security lost.

It was a horrible night down there...in most of your state the Dem primaries were won by the right-wing candidate(Murphy, DWS). From what I can see, there were no Dem primary results that weren't votes to just give up and join the GOP. please tell me that Darren Freaking Soto lost.

If you're for getting rid of Social Security, there's nothing you can do in office that could possibly be decent. It's impossible for you to be progressive or even "centrist" if you do that.

and considering the general perception of a retirement state with a large senior population I would find it hard to believe that someone who wanted to end Social Security could win, but stranger things have happened.

I just checked and he WON his primary. District 9.

BUT, fwiw, his campaign site says this:

Strengthening Social Security

At a time when nine out of ten seniors rely on Social Security to make ends meet, we must strengthen and expand Social Security, not cut it. Social Security is among the most successful government programs in our nation’s history: It nearly eradicated destitute poverty in old age, made a dignified retirement possible for millions of Americans, and paved the way to the great American middle class.

In Congress, I’ll stand up for our seniors and fight every attempt to privatize or cut Social Security.
