Has anyone had any luck with a mailed in paper Unemployment Compensation Application in FL?

I mailed my wife's to Tallahassee on 4/7 Priority Mail. According to the USPS it has been sitting in the Post Office in Tallahassee for over a week undelivered. On Tuesday I called the USPS, they said they would look into it but I haven't heard a thing from them.

Coronavirus Unemployment Assistance
Dear Neighbor:

I hope whether you are home with loved ones or on the front lines helping our fellow neighbors during this pandemic, you are staying healthy and safe. You and your families are always at the forefront of my mind as we work together to navigate the health, financial and social impacts of the coronavirus pandemic.

This past week’s unemployment figures, which show that one in eight working adults in our country has lost his/her job in the past month, reinforces just how critical it is that our nation take the appropriate steps to be able to safely reopen our economy. Florida’s unemployment claims have jumped to 1.5 million people. There must be a concerted federal effort to significantly increase the amount of testing being done and the availability of personal protective equipment for frontline workers. We must take this crisis seriously.

Congress has acted three times to meet this challenge, including providing assistance to keep workers on payroll, providing larger unemployment insurance checks while expanding eligibility, and sending direct payments to most Americans. We are already at work on the next steps that need to be taken to aid workers and small businesses, and ensure states have the resources they need to administer unemployment assistance.

I have heard from far too many of you whose livelihoods have been devastated by this pandemic. Congress has provided robust relief to help the State of Florida serve the unemployed, and I have written Gov. DeSantis and urged him to move swiftly to remove barriers that are blocking Floridians from accessing these benefits they deserve.

Specifically, I have asked the Governor to:

1. Extend the length of Florida’s unemployment benefits from 12 weeks to 26 weeks;
2. Significantly increase the maximum benefit from $275 per week to be comparable to states with similar costs of living;
3. Utilize available federal funding under the CARES Act that provides 13 additional weeks of state benefits; and
4. Make benefits payments retroactive to when an individual became unemployed;
5. Take all necessary action to make the claims process quick and efficient.

Last but not least, I insisted he hire more workers to process unemployment claims, repair the deficiencies in the website and update the webpage to reflect current federal and state law. The digital and paper claim forms are requiring claimants to answer questions that are irrelevant and confusing during this pandemic. He must also make it clear that those who are self-employed are also now eligible to apply.

Until we are able to get our economy reopened and begin the process of getting so many able-bodied Floridians and Americans back to work on a large scale, I want to make sure that those who need it, are able to access unemployment benefits and other assistance available.

Please remember that my office is always here to help if you need assistance. I encourage you to sign up for my newsletter or follow me on Facebook and Twitter to stay abreast of the latest information. If you have or need assistance, please call my office at 904-354-1652 (Jacksonville), 850-558-9450 (Tallahassee) or 202-225-0123 (Washington DC). You may also send questions or concerns through my website.

Maybe if you contact him, you could get some help. He was a state legislator from Tallahassee for years before he ran for the US House so has lots of contacts in Tallahassee and state government.

2. Your congressman is a Democrat. I am in Pinellas County and mine is a useless Repuke.

Mr. Lawson needs to serve his own constituents, that's a big enough job. DeSantis will ignore him. I intend to make the lives of all my Repuke elected "representatives" as miserable as I possibly can. Thanks for your response.

3. Mr Lawson might be willing to help even if you are not one of his constituents

AS I said, he has lots of contacts in the state government. While dealing with state unemployment issues is technically part of his current job, he knows who to contact.

Good luck to you and your wife.

Postal Service officials put on notice for Tallahassee's poor mail delivery service
TaMaryn Waters, Tallahassee Democrat Published 6:24 p.m. ET Jan. 25, 2019 | Updated 6:43 a.m. ET Jan. 26, 2019

United States Postal Service officials arrived Friday at U.S. Rep. Al Lawson's Tallahassee office with a stack of customer complaints.

Many were submitted to Lawson's office — a sign of Tallahassee's boiling-over postal problems. Lawson scheduled the meeting to convey concerns and an expectation that they get to the bottom of things.

The Postal Service was put on notice during a meeting that lasted more than an hour in Lawson's congressional office in the Renaissance Building in Frenchtown. In attendance were state Rep. Loranne Ausley, D-Tallahassee, Tallahassee Postmaster Tim Dison and Paul Steele, manager of Post Office operations and Dison's boss.

Following the private meeting, Lawson told the Tallahassee Democrat he's convinced after talking with Dison and Steele delivery service will improve. But he's still concerned by the frequency and number of complaints he's heard, especially during last month's peak holiday season.

It could be the PO, or it could be the state offices. I know someone who used to work for Unemplyment - her job was to deny claims, pretty much. I could not have done what she did and slept at night. I'm not sure she is still with them, it's been twenty years since we talked about her work.
