Under pressure, FL identifies senior-living homes with coronavirus cases

*How irresponsible and selfish for Governor DeSantis to wait so long to allow this!

After refusing for weeks, the state of Florida reversed course Saturday and released the names of 303 nursing homes and assisted-living facilities with cases of the coronavirus.

The list, released under pressure from the news media, included only the facilities’ names. It did not show the number of cases at each facility or whether they involved residents, staff or both.

Included on the list were 39 facilities in Broward County, 54 in Miami-Dade County and 36 in Palm Beach County.

Gov. Ron DeSantis announced the decision to release the names at a news conference in Tallahassee, after pressure from advocates for the elderly and the threat of legal action from media organizations.

The facilities are required to notify residents, staff and residents’ family members of any cases at their facilities, the governor said, and the decision to make the names public ensured that was done.

Now I am really worried, my moms' BFF is at one of the places listed, so now I have to call her family and see how she's doing. Estelle had asthma and is 92 so highly at risk. I fucking hate the day drumpf was born and every day thereafter because his evil toxic assholishness has caused close to 40,000 to die and who knows how many wlll end up dead for his personal profit and evil hate?

In a few weeks, hurricane season officially begins. DeSantis has not been doing enough or with any consistency. The first storm we get (that could be any time) the shelters will fill up and be jammed with folks that had to evacuate - and the cycle of coronavirus begins again.

I thank the Lord my 90 year old mother-in-law's nursing home that she is in is not included on that list.

I speak to her on a daily basis, she seems to be doing well with the exception of going for her morning walks. I try to comfort her as much as I can.

I am so glad that your mother in law's nursing home is not on that list either and that so far she's holding up okay! Keep us posted...

And was betting it was 55+ homes and villages. And, speaking of villages, I think Sumter County will record many deaths the next two weeks.
