Another Sinkhole Opens

Small hole appears at Largo Mall

Largo, Fla.-(970WFLA)-After the Seffner sinkhole, the hole that opened at the Largo Mall is small by comparison. This sinkhole is roughly ten feet long and just several feet wide.

The hole in the mall's parking lot area shows only about a three feet gap on the surface, but expands underground.

The good news about the small sinkhole at the mall, at Ulmerton Road and Seminole Boulevard, is that nobody fell into the hole or is injured.

A safety barricade was put up around the sinkhole until it can be stabilized.

But the main cause is that the underground aquifer disolves the limestone bedrock over time.
